While Europe's eye is fixed on mighty things, / The fate of Empires and the fall of Kings, / While quacks of State must each produce his plan, / And even children lisp the Rights of Man; / Amid this mighty fuss let me mention, / The Rights of Woman merit some attention. - ROBERT BURNS

"Portrait of the Artist's Mother"
Pablo Picasso 1881-1973

Born in Spain, Picasso spent most of his life in France where he won fame as a painter, sculptor and stage designer. One of the founders of the Cubist Movement, his best known painting is probably "Guernica" which depicts the German bombing of Guernica during the Spanish civil war.

Tomorrow's painting - "Anne Marie Dagnan" by Gustave Claude Etienne Courtois
