While Europe's eye is fixed on mighty things, / The fate of Empires and the fall of Kings, / While quacks of State must each produce his plan, / And even children lisp the Rights of Man; / Amid this mighty fuss let me mention, / The Rights of Woman merit some attention. - ROBERT BURNS

"Mona Lisa"
[also known as La Gioconda, La Joconde, Portrait of Lisa Gherardini]
Leonardo da Vinci 1452-1519

On permanent display in the Louvre, Paris, the painting has been acclaimed "the best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most sung about, the most parodied work of art in the world." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mona_Lisa

It is said that Leonardo employed musicians, singers and jugglers to entertain the sitter while he worked on the painting.

Tomorrow's painting - a very attractive early Picasso, where the subject's facial features are all where they should be!!
