While Europe's eye is fixed on mighty things, / The fate of Empires and the fall of Kings, / While quacks of State must each produce his plan, / And even children lisp the Rights of Man; / Amid this mighty fuss let me mention, / The Rights of Woman merit some attention. - ROBERT BURNS

"Venus Anadyomene"
Titian (Tiziano Vecelli or Vecellio)  1488/90-1576

The title of the painting means Venus rising from the sea. The goddess is depicted wringing her hair, either after bathing or after her birth. She is said to have been born from a shell and  a symbolic shell is shown at bottom left.
